More than 35 sessions

Postby katahdin » Fri Mar 19, 2010 12:44 pm

Hi,
I am looking for documentation to support having more than 35 sessions.

Do you have any links that I can reference?

I am end my 35 sessions next tuesday, my cardiologist (part of only group assoc with hosp) doesn't 'believe' in it, but a different cardio did my recent cath and put me in the program. I believe that more sessions would be beneficial. I have afib, and it seems to me there have been about as many good as bad days. Also think it would be beneficial to have contiguous treatments.

The technician didn't have any idea or even heard about 35 or 50 session protocol.

Thank you

Hello:
There are cases in which patients receive more than 35 EECP treatments such as when the response to treatment might not be very significant or a patient had an interruption of therapy for some reason. There are even some providers which have been allowed to bill for 40 treatments routinely in some parts of the country. Medicare and most private insurers only allow 35 treatments, but might approve additional treatments based upon the patient's doctor contacting the insurance company to get authorization for more treatments. Sometimes these requests are successful. More often patients will return for additional treatment after 1-3 years if their symptoms worsen.
Take care,

From an (In the BOX) insurer's stand point everything stated is correct. From (OUT of the BOX) YOU (the patient) stand point your absolutely correct!! You do not exercise (35 times) and stop! EECP is vascular exercise.............when incorporated in a comprehensive Fitness Wellness Program this modality is unbelievable!! EECP is just as UNBELIEVABLE (OUT OF THE BOX) as it is (IN THE BOX)!!

Cardiologist: "I don't believe in it (EECP)" .........................RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN FROM IGNORANCE..............

Pathology or Health ........What direction do you think (cardiologists) are Focused on?

ALL THEY HAVE TO DO IS READ AND CONNECT THE (......).......That is NOT HOW THEY ARE TRAINED!

DUE DILIGENCE is the KEY!!!

If your insurance won't pay, see what kind of cash deal you can cut. I thought I read somewhere else on this forum where someone was paying $50 each.

I completed 36 sessions at 80 per session, then found Global Cardio in Inglewood, Calif. They charged me $40 per session with very competent personnel and the latest equipment.
